BLACKWATER USA - rise of the most powerful private army

para-military group (forces whose function and organization are similar to those of a professional military force, but which are not regarded as having the same status):

Blackwater is a private military contractor co-founded by former Navy Seal Erik Prince. It is based in the U.S. state of North Carolina, where it operates a tactical training facility that it claims is the world's largest. Prince is a former Navy Seal and a "billionaire right-wing fundamentalist" Christian from a powerful Michigan Republican family. A major Republican campaign contributor, he interned in the White House of President George H.W. Bush and campaigned for Pat Buchanan in 1992. He founded the mercenary firm Blackwater USA in 1997 with Gary Jackson, another former Navy SEAL.

Blackwater provides "a spectrum of support to military, government agencies, law enforcement and civilian entities in training, targets and range operations as a solution provider." Their slogan is: "Providing a new generation of capability, skills, and people to solve the spectrum of needs in the world of security." At least 90% of its revenue comes from the current Bush administration, of which two thirds are no-bid contracts in Iraq, Afghanistan and post-Katrina New Orleans". Blackwater is pushing to be part of UN peacekeeping missions as well, but so far the United Nations is not buying...

war crimes:

More recently the US and Iraqi governments have started a joint investigation of security contractors following Blackwater's alleged involvement in the killing of 11 Iraqi civilians and the wounding of 12 in Baghdad.
The killings have outraged many Iraqis, who resent the presence of armed Western security contractors, considering them as mercenary forces that abuse Iraqis in their own country. But Blackwater personnel are already back on the streets of Baghdad.

The Iraqi government concluded that Blackwater employees fired without provocation into civilian cars last week. Attending the UN's special meeting on Iraq, al-Maliki, Iraq's prime minister, said: "When there is a private company that has committed seven reported crimes already, that is something that we cannot turn a blind eye to."

Hussein Kamal, the deputy interior minister, said: "We tried several times to contact the US government through administrative and diplomatic channels to complain about the repeated involvement by Blackwater guards in several incidents that led to the killing of many Iraqis, but there were no concrete results. Our complaints went nowhere."

black marketing:

Furthermore, US prosecutors are investigating whether Blackwater USA, illegally smuggled weapons into the country. The alleged weapons may have reached the black market and ended up in the hands of groups fighting against US forces, according to officials...

So it looks like this private para-military is yet another tool in hands of the new world order. It answers only before US courts for its crimes or doesn't answer at all. It is growing stronger despite its crimes untill one day it becomes an ARMY...

WAR ON IRAN or SATAN vs AXIS OF EVIL

PARIS (AFP) - A warning from French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner that the world has to prepare for a possible war with Iran over its nuclear programme triggered alarm in the Middle East and elsewhere Monday.

Kouchner, a former international charity chief and Socialist health minister, said that the world should negotiate with Iran "right to the end" over its nuclear programme.
But, Kouchner warned, "We have to prepare for the worst, and the worst is war."

He said that if Tehran possessed an atomic weapon, it would be a "real danger for the whole world." He added that the current stand-off was "the greatest crisis" of present times.

Kouchner said that if the UN is unable to agree on a new round of sanctions, then the European Union should prepare its own.
"We have decided that while negotiations are continuing ... to prepare eventual sanctions outside the ambit of UN sanctions. Our good friends, the Germans, suggested that," he said.

"The occupants of the Elysee have become the executors of the will of the White House and have adopted a tone that is even harder, even more inflammatory and more illogical than that of Washington," IRNA said.

John Abizaid, the retired Army general who headed Central Command for nearly four years expressed his opinion on this issue:

"Iran is not a suicide nation," he said. "I mean, they may have some people in charge that don't appear to be rational, but I doubt that the Iranians intend to attack us with a nuclear weapon."

"I believe that we have the power to deter Iran, should it become nuclear," he said, referring to the theory that Iran would not risk a catastrophic retaliatory strike by using a nuclear weapon against the United States.
"There are ways to live with a nuclear Iran," Abizaid said in remarks at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a think tank. "Let's face it, we lived with a nuclear Soviet Union, we've lived with a nuclear China, and we're living with (other) nuclear powers as well." He stressed that he was expressing his personal opinion.

Abizaid also stressed the dangers of allowing more and more nations to build a nuclear arsenal. And while he said it is likely that Iran will make a technological breakthrough to obtain a nuclear bomb, "it's not inevitable."
Iran says its nuclear program is strictly for energy resources, not to build weapons.
Abizaid suggested military action to pre-empt Iran's nuclear ambitions might not be the wisest course.
"War, in the state-to-state sense, in that part of the region would be devastating for everybody, and we should avoid it — in my mind — to every extent that we can," he said. "On the other hand, we can't allow the Iranians to continue to push in ways that are injurious to our vital interests."

He suggested that many in Iran — perhaps even some in the Tehran government — are open to cooperating with the West. The thrust of his remarks was a call for patience in dealing with Iran, which President Bush early in his first term labeled one of the "axis of evil" nations, along with North Korea and Iraq while Iranians call United States of America, "The Great Satan".

epilogue:

It looks like we can expect a war between Satan and Axis of Evil as a new episode in War on Terror. What a bunch of crap! If you ask me they can all go to hell...

Anti-war protests in Washington

Thousands of protestors have marched from the White House to the Capitol in Washington to demonstrate against the war in Iraq. Among the crowd were war veterans and relatives of servicemen killed in Iraq. It comes just days after Americans were told that security conditions in Iraq were improving, and after president Bush said he intended to bring back some 21,000 soldiers out of 168,000 by the middle of next year. Police arrested dozens of people who jumped over security barricades. The protesters came from many American states and included gray-haired grandmothers, civil rights leaders, middle-aged middle-class people, labor organizers, radical political figures, and students.
They carried a forest of signs, many demanding the quick return home of U.S. troops from Iraq and others accused President Bush of being a liar, a criminal, or a fool. Some demonstrations were planned in support of the war Saturday and Sunday.
Many anti-war protests are set for Washington, London and other cities with rallies, marches and a concert.
U.S. opinion polls indicate growing discontent with the Iraq war, but President Bush says withdrawing prematurely would encourage terrorism and make the world more dangerous.
